Setting up Dreamweaver FTP

Dreamweaver is a web editing program, which can be used for FTP using its Site Management system

1. Open the Dreamweaver Site Management Utility
( Site menu, select Site Map)

The Site Window shows
"George McNamara" in this screen

2. In the Site window, select
Define Sites ... this will give a window similar to the one on the right

3. Click New to create a new site

The site definition system appears, as in the picture on the right

4. Enter local info - site name, folder on your hard disk, and internet address.

5. Enter remote info:-
Access is usually by FTP

Host is ftp.yoursitename.com

Login and password are the same as for your control panel

6. Site Map layout is less important - it is for details of your home page

7. The design notes and file view columns are not needed

8. Check what you have done, and click OK - this will save the automated connection under the name you chose in step 4.
This name will then appear in the Site Window

9. Click Done to exit the Define Sites window
